  23.     Well!  Here's my second demo.  I'm kind of in a rush so I'll try to keep
  24. this short.  If you just can't wait to see my demo, then what are you waiting
  25. for?  Go run it!  Otherwise, you can keep reading this text.

  27.     I decided to put out another demo because I got a lot great feedback from
  28. the release of my last one.  Besides, I did not feel that "the Byte Before
  29. Christmas" was that much of a challenge.  This time I'm trying to do a more
  30. 'traditional' demo look.  (is this closer to a *real* demo, Patch?)
  31.  
  32.     I did not implement Demo-VT, as a couple of people had suggested, because
  33. of a little problem I ran into.  Demo-VT makes you change the music between
  34. executables and will not let you have the same music running through several
  35. parts.  I wrote to Jare (right after I put out the BBC) and did not get a
  36. reply until just a few days ago.  He acknowledged Demo-VT's limitation and
  37. accepted my suggestion of a different way to parse the scripts so that this
  38. limitation could be removed.  As I did not have any time at the last moment
  39. to add in the work-around he suggested (have Demo-VT run another program
  40. that runs the separate parts), I still am not using it.  When I get the next
  41. version of Demo-VT, then I'll use it, but until then, I'll use the current
  42. method.   (Sorry to those who can't get the music to work).

  44.     One other thing you may have noticed is that there is now only a single
  45. executable.  I developed another version of my JLIB format that permits
  46. 'junk' to be stored before the beginning of the actual library files.  In
  47. this case the 'junk' is the demo loader which loads the rest of the demo out
  48. of the main library.  Version 1.3 of JLIB will be available with the source
  49. code package available a week after the release of this demo.

  51.     I'd also like to thank all of those people responsible for the original
  52. ideas/code for the parts that I did not completely think of or write myself.
  53. Draeden's mode X code was especially useful and I used Patch's PCX Utils
  54. for all of the fonts.  I'd also like to thank Joakim Rosqvist for his
  55. help in optimization, providing the music, and also showing such an interest
  56. in my work.  And to Andrew Welch, I'm sorry I couldn't wait for you to
  57. finish that one part of the demo for me.  Maybe next time!
